This is a standard introductory course on complex analysis. Topics to be covered include:

  • Review of complex numbers
  • Analytic functions, Cauchy-Riemann equations
  • The Cauchy theorem, Cauchy's integral formula
  • The residue theorem
  • Applications of the residue theorem to the evaluation of definite integrals and sums
  • The argument principle, Rouche's theorem
  • Conformal mappings
  • Analytic continuation

Prerequisite:  Ma 108b or equivalent

Grades: The final grade will be determined by homework assignments (60%) and by the midterm and final exam (40%).
